With recorded highest sales ever achieved, Acer’s gaming desktop 2nd generation PREDATOR-G5 was designed with costs and manufacturing aspects in mind. Although aesthetically aggressive and complex, it’s engineering, and material selection were carefully crafted to significantly reduce the BOM cost from the 1st generation Predator Desktop.

The Vision

The organic-colored venting slits were designed to wrap the front and upper bezels to communicate a properly cooled powerhouse. The Optical drive doors were designed and engineered to mimic powerful mandibles, jaw-like features.

As an alternative to paint, orange metallized special effects plastic was used as way to simplify the manufacturing process while reducing BOM costs.
